Let us tell you about W/ELCA, Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. All women of Our Savior's Lutheran are automatically members of W/ELCA.
Some women choose to belong to a "circle." Each circle is a unit of W/ELCA. Members enjoy Bible study and working on projects together, and view it as a special time to make new friends. There are three morning circles and one evening circle.
Two meet at 9:30 a.m. on the third Thursday of each month.
One meets at 9:30 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month.
The evening circle meets at 7:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month.
You are most welcome to join any of these circles! We will be happy to see you!
The quilters spend time making quilts for Lutheran World Relief, and lap robes for the Cloquet Nursing Home and the Carlton Inter-Faith Center. Larger quilts are also made for use within the Cloquet area. People are welcome to cut squares of material, to iron and to sew the squares together into quilts. The quilters meet at 9:00 a.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. Come and help sew. Bring a bag lunch for the luncheon fellowship!
Projects of W/ELCA include stocking and maintaining the kitchen, the Good Samaritan Fund, Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry, providing devotional books for people to read ("Our Daily Bread" and "Christ In Our Home"), monthly visits to the Carlton Inter-Faith Center, Sunday radio broadcast, baptismal candles and napkins, and world missions. Our "big project" of the year is the Nordic Bazaar: Scandinavian delicacies, baked goods, crafts and luncheon. Lots of work and lots of fun!

The NE MN Synodical Convention will be held on June 6th and 7th at UMD. Our Delegate will be Myrna Wells-Ulland.
The “In Kind” project at the convention this year is sewing kits….20 of these kits have been prepared by Our Savior’s.
THANK YOU to Deb Templeton for designing and quilting the quilt block from our church to be included in the quilt being assembled from blocks contributed from all churches in the NE MN Conference. (This quilt is displayed at the convention before being donated to a worthy cause.)
Continue to save pennies– money collected from now until the Spring Gathering next March will be given to MN Teen Challenge.
Quilting Dates:
Our quilters will be “on vacation” during June, July, and August. Work will resume in September. This year the quilts made have been given to the Carlton Youth Center.
